Story about the rug

The design of this rug is similar to #2024-127. Note the interesting 4 squares in each corner of the rug. It is hooked on burlap backing with various recycled materials/fabrics including knits, acrylic, cotton strips, etc. The edges are bound with binding stitched to the front, folded over and stitched down on the back.
It is in fair condition as most rugs hooked over 25 years ago were hooked out of necessity to keep the floors and beds warm.  They have been walked on many, many times over the years since hooked in 1949.
Ivy Willa (Brown) Moore: 1902 – 1964 was born in Rodney, Nova Scotia and lived in Springhill most of her life. She not only hooked rugs, she also sewed, quilted and was involved in church activities. Although it is unknown who the designer was for the rugs hooked by Ivy, the design of this rug could have been her own design incorporating a quilt design in the rug as well.
