This geometric rug was hooked by Ivy Willa (Brown) Moore around 1949 in Springhill, Nova Scotia. It is hooked on burlap backing with various recycled materials including knits, wool, acrylic, etc. The edges show cotton binding sewn on the front and folded over to the back and machine stitched down. It is in fair, fragile condition. However, rugs were hooked for the floors for warmth and to protect the floors and that’s what this mat did for many, many years. It appears to be a match to rug registry # 2024-128. If these rugs could talk, can you imagine the stories that could be told.  This rug may have been Ivy’s own design as she enjoyed sewing as well as quilting.  A  quilt pattern could have been incorporated in this design when you look at the square corners hooked in this rug.
