Story about the rug

This is a lovely designed rug is hooked with various recycled materials on burlap backing. The edges have a knit fabric binding showing on the front and turned to the back and stitched down.  Although hooked years ago, the colours in this rug remain very vibrant which tells us it was kept out of the bright sunlight over the years. It is very fragile however it served its purpose over the years.
The rug hooker, Annie (Goodwin) Stuart was born in 1902 and died in 1962. She was a mother and homemaker who lived in Lorneville and Amherst, NS. She hooked rugs for family use and to keep the floors and beds warm in the winter months.
This is a lovely family heirloom which fortunately has been passed on to her daughter.
