This hooked rug consists of many, many colours. It is a great design to use up the “worms” (strips of wool) that rug hookers accumulate over time. This design is also a quilt pattern. It is hooked using recycled wool on burlap backing. The edges are whip stitched and cotton binding is sewn along the outside edge on the back of the rug.
The rug hooker, Beulah Dorey, was a self taught rug hooker who also attended community workshops. She was a secretary and homemaker who enjoyed not only rug hooking but also quilting, sewing, knitting and baking. Beulah (Loomer) Dorey: 1939 – 2023
