This Garrett pattern consists of scrolls, leaves and in the cetnre is a bird sitting on a tree branch. It has minimal fading and is in good condition. It is hooked with recycled materials, probably clothing, including cotton, knits and mixed materials on burlap backing. The colours in this rug remain vibrant with minimal fading.
It was hooked by Mary Creighton who lived her entire life in Mount Thom, Pictou County, NS. She was a caregiver and homemaker who hooked rugs for family and for social times. This rug and others she has hooked remain in the family as real heirlooms to be cherished over time. Currently, a niece owns these pride possessions. Just image if those rugs could talk what we would learn about that particular time in history! We are pleased to have been invited to register them.
