Story about the rug

The design of this hooked rug is referred to as an “inch mat” or “Boston Sidewalk”. It is hooked with wool strips on what appears to be linen. The edges are whip stitched and binding sewn along the back edges of the rug.
It was hooked by a group of rug hookers who were members of the South Shore Region, The Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia and donated to the DesBrisay Museum in Bridgewater, NS.
In many homes you will find this particular design of hooked rug, especially in the Lunenburg County area.
