Story about the rug

This pictorial wall hanging is titled “Country Cottage” designed by rug hooker, Kay Bowman. It is hooked with new and recycled wool and wool roving on burlap backing. The edges are folded over to the back and a fabric backing is sewn to the back of the entire piece.
Frances’ name and year she hooked it is hand written on the back. Her mother taught her to rug hook when she was young however, Frances did not hook regularly until later in life. She attended The Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia’s rug schools held Truro, Cornwallis and Church Point. She hooked from the early 1980’s until her death in 2021 usually for social times and creative expression. (Frances Chisholm Purdy: 1928 – 2021)
