Story about the rug

“Moose” is the name of this rug. It is one of the patterns created by the Garrett’s (Bluenose Rugs), New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. It was a popular design and today can be seen hanging on the walls of cottages, lodges, and homes.
No information is available about the rug hooker or the story behind this rug. Fortunately, the current owner found it at a thrift store in Dartmouth, NS.
It is hooked on burlap backing using various recycled materials including wool, knitted fabrics and mixed materials (probably recycled clothing). There is cotton binding sewn along the outside edges of this rug showing on the front and folded and stitched down on the back of the rug. There is polyester fabric covering the complete back area of the rug. It is in good condition.
