This rug is hooked using a variety of cut strips of fabric on burlap backing. There is a central rectangle bordered by alternating strips of red and green and a lighter colour bordered by black. The corners have a checkerboard/basket weave effect with hooking running in alternate directions. It is similar to the rug registered # 2024-101. The binding appears to be silk or nylon. It shows on the front and is folded over to the back and stitched down.
This rug is well worn. It was found in a cottage in Green Bay, NS and gifted to the current owner along with a number of other rugs you will see registered on this site.
