This is a unique “art deco” design hooked in New Glasgow sometime between 1930 and 1940. It is a family heirloom now owned by the rug hooker’s great granddaughter.
It is hooked with various recycled materials including wool, tweed, synthetics and mixed materials. You can see the edges are frayed and it appears binding has been added to the outside edges. It certainly has served its purpose. The colours compliment each other very well. Imagine what we could learn if this rug could talk!
The rug hooker may have designed this unique rug herself however, it cannot be confirmed.
