Story about the rug

This is a learning sampler Laurette (Cunningham) Cameron started to create in 1970.  Her daughter-in-law, Leslie Cameron completed it in 1999.  It includes shaped bullrushes, 2 “hit and miss” squares, a central blue pansy square, blue grapes, a stained glass square of purple, red and yellow and the lower right hand corner square includes initials “LC”.  (Laurette and Leslie have the same initials.)
The sampler is hooked using #2 and #3 cuts of new wool strips which are cut very narrow for hooking. The backing is burlap. The binding is hand stitched along the front edge and then folded over and stitched along the back on the reverse side of the sampler.
A lovely keepsake completed by 2 family members.  Laurette (Cunningham) Cameron: 1927-1998.
