“Earl’s Oriental” is the name of this beautiful hooked rug.
Doris was a painter, author, rug hooking master, teacher and one of the founding members of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia. All her works whether painted or rug hooked are unique and each has their own story including “Earl’s Oriental”.
Doris usually hooked with recycled materials, overdyed recycled materials and hooked on linen backing. This rug is hooked using narrow strips, #2 and #3. You will find her intials or her first and last name as well as the year the item was hooked in every one of her projects. She encouraged all of us to do the same as each project is a “work of art”.
