“Annapolis Valley Apple Orchard” is the name of this hooked rug Doris Eaton designed and hooked. When her family lived in the Annapolis Valley they had apple orchards that were beautiful when they blossomed in the spring and were laden with with lush red or golden apples when it was time to pick them.
This rug is hoooked with various yarns and materials, usually recycled on linen backing. Doris has stitched her well known “Eaton Edge” along the edge of the rug, folded over and stitched down on the back. Every one of Doris’ hooked rugs as well as her paintings has a “personal story” behind it as does many of the rugs rug hookers create.                          Doris was one of the founding members of The Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia. Her rugs have been displayed at the DesBrisay Museum, Bridgewater as well as Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, Nova Scotia and have been purchased from individuals local and far away.
