“Small Sea Wrack” was hooked in 1999 with #5 cut wool/wool yarn on linen backing especially for Doris’ daughter, Patricia. It is a smaller version of the rug Doris named “Sea Wrack”. It is proudly displayed in Patricia’s home in Nova Scotia. Note Doris has signed her rug and also inserted the year she made it as she had done for all her hooked rugs.
Doris says in her book, “A Lifetime of Rug-Hooking” the following: “It’s a great accomplishment to finish a rug. If you are a rug hooker, you know all too well how much time, thought, energy, knowledge and artistry go into these creations. Be proud of your efforts. Sign and date them. Your children and future generations will cherish them for many years to come. Your signature can become part of your design and be very subtly added to your work.”
