This lovely hooked rug includes 6 maple leaves (4 red and 2 gold). Maple trees are dominant in the area where the rug hooker lived, Maplewood, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. It is hooked with yarn on burlap backing. Binding is showing on the front and back edges of the rug. The edge of the rug is crochet.
The rug hooker was very active in her community. She was a Life Member of the Women’s Institute of Parkdale-Maplewood and was presented with the Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee medal in 2004. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest and truly enjoyed the outdoors.
