Story about the rug

This lovely hooked rug is in excellent condition and the yarn used to hook it compliment the colours used very well. There are 4 red flowers and a red bud, 2 yellow flowers and green leaves hooked on burlap backing. Edges of the rug are crochet into the backing. The hooked outside borders bring the colourful bouquet of flowers together.
It is on exhibit at the Parkdale-Maplewood Community Museum along with additional hooked rugs made by Beulah Rafuse as well as hooked rugs made by others in the community.
Beulah was an active member of the community serving as the 1st provincial president of the Women’s Institute, Lunenburg County in 1979 and received Life Membership of the Women’s Institute of Parkdale-Maplewood. She was awarded the Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee medal in 2004. She enjoyed the outdoors.
