Story about the rug

This multi-stripped mat was used in the Wentzell home before the home burned in a fire.  This is probably a portion of a longer rug or runner as it appears to have been cut looking at the edges.  The sides have been reinforced with a sewing machine. It is hooked with various striops of yarn wool, probably left overs from other hooked rug projects over the years.  The backing is burlap. It is in fair condition.

It was donated to the Parkdale/Maplewood Community Museum in 1999.

Louise Wentzell resided in Maplewood. She died in 1929.
