This hooked rug is a unique design using various shades of blues, greens and pinks hooked in rows. The buildings are hooked in vertical rows and the background and foreground are hooked in horizontal rows. Buildings are outlined in black to illustrate 3 dimensional buildings. The border is hooked in black with staggered coloured pieces hooked throughout the boards in colours that are also in the main area of the rug.
It is hooked using recycled materials including wool strips and yarn on burlap backing. The edges are whip stitched with black yarn. The year it was hooked, “87” is hooked in the lower right hand corner.
The rug hooker, Belle (Maddison) McNutt learned to hook from her grandmother and mother as well as with the rug hooking group, “Friends Hook Nook” in Springhill, NS. She hooked for social times, creative expression and for family use.
