“The Wash” is the title of this pattern designed by Deanne Fitzpatrick, Amherst, NS. The rug hooker, Marie (Pothier) Sweet learned how to rug hook with the “Friends Hook Nook” group in Springhill at the age of 62.
This piece is hooked using wool strips on linen backing. The edges are whip stitched and cotton binding is sewn on the back edges. It is in excellent condition. The rug hooking loops and the whip stitching is very well done. The colours compliment each other very well. A nice family treasure. (Marie Sweet: 1931-2009)
