Story about the rug

This rug has a special place in the heart of the rug hooker. It is the same design hooked by her great grandmother, Sarah Langille Gould of River John, NS 100 years ago. That particular rug was registered with the Heritage Rug Registry in 2000.
Susan has hooked it in the same colours as her great grandmother used. She used new materials as well as recycled materials including wool, cashmere sweaters, recycled skirts, etc. on burlap backing. The leaves are dyed cashmere sweaters, the scrolls are hooked using recycled skirts, the border is Door antique black wool strips and the background is “off the bolt” wool, not dyed. The cotton show binding was handstitched on the front and folded over to the back for a 3/8″ edge.
A very attractive hooked rug with special meaning to Susan.
