“Christmas in the Valley” is the title of this lovely winter scene showing a community nestled in a valley with snow falling down all around and the hills and mountains in the background. It makes a lovely wall hanging or seasonal table mat.
It is hooked on burlap backing using new wool strips. The edge is whip stitched and binding sewn on the back. The whipping and binding were completed by A. J. Duckenfield.
Frances was involved in many activities within her community through the years. She began rug hooking later in life for approximately 20 years (1980 until her death in 2021). Her mother was a rug hooker as well. Frances attended rug schools held in Church Point, Cornwallis and Truro, Nova Scotia. She enjoyed rug hooking for creative expression and social times.
