“Green Bay” is located in the county of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It has a beautiful prestine beach, close to cafes, restaurants as well as local crafters including painters and rug hookers. Doris visited this place often as it wasn’t very far from her home. Many of her hooked rugs included the ocean, beaches, shells, etc.
This lovely hooked rug is displayed in a special place in a family member’s home. It is hooked using various fibres, recycled materials on linen backing and finished using the “Eaton’s Edge” with cotton binding created by Doris Eaton.
Doris hooked rugs for over 50 years and is one of Nova Scotia’s well-known rug hookers. Her involvement with art preceded her interst in rug-hooking. She attended the Massachusetts School of Art and was represented in exhibitions by the Maritime Art Association, the 1st Centennial Exhibition by Nova Scotia Artists and Acadia University, Nova Scotia. Her rugs have been exhibited in various locations over the years.
